Inspired by the hit Chinese fantasy film “Love Game in Eastern Fantasy”, Thunder Cloud Studio set out to recreate three iconic characters in this movie – bringing them to life as Realistic Characters. Our focus was on authentic likeness, aiming for accuracy in facial proportions, skin texture, clothing authenticity and complexity to achieve a high level of realism. In this AA+ Chinese character sculpting project, we used references from a live actress to ensure visual accuracy.
This project reflects our expertise in 3D character design services, following a proven realistic character modelling workflow. We first created a rough garment simulation in Marvelous Designer to achieve realistic fabric behavior for the clothing. Moving to the high-poly sculpting process, where every detail – from skin texture to fabric flow – was meticulously crafted in ZBrush to deliver a truly lifelike result.

Under a tight timeline, we could only achieve about 70% of our desired quality for this final piece. As this is a trial project exploring Chinese aesthetic styles, we decided to pause at this level of quality, but the process has given us many valuable lessons. We truly appreciated the opportunity to explore this aesthetic and challenge ourselves to grow.
